During my time at school, I was lucky enough to have teachers who helped me in a way which suited my learning style. It gave me the confidence to strive for higher academic marks and ultimately allow me to attend my dream university studying a degree I truly love.
I and everyone else here at Empower Education want to share this gift of learning with you because we know how difficult school can be to navigate alone. So whether you're a learner who loves visuals or someone who needs a mix of everything, we want to help YOU take control of your schooling journey, regardless of how that may be!
Despite my fortune in getting good teachers, big words, complicated steps and poor explanations definitely was discouraging to my academic progress, especially when my peers seemed to "just get it." As I've gained experience tutoring, I've seen how pronounced these flaws in schooling discourage students from achieving academically. It creates a lack of self-belief, negative thoughts and a lack of desire to achieve which is the complete opposite of empowering...

That is why we provide simple, succinct and sophisticated strategies to our students as it allows each and every one of our students to build confidence (and get high marks 😉). This self-confidence is what helped me achieve and it's also why current students love working with us!
Sharing knowledge is one aspect of tutoring but role modelling to inspire students to pursue their interests is one that is often overlooked. Providing guidance, support, and encouragement to learners is tough when there isn't that personal relationship between student and tutor.

About Me
My name is Zach Nguyen
During a holiday to Fiji, I remember my parents reading the HSC results for that year and asking me what I think I'll get when it's my time ten years later. With no hesitation I exclaimed "99.95" but by the end of Year 7, my marks weren't anywhere near that. For Year 8, I was placed near the bottom class across all subjects. That's when I made a change, a change to make my marks better and to achieve the goal little me set out to achieve all those years ago. With hard work and dedication, I slowly rose back up the ladder, continuously climbing until I reached the highest English, Maths and Science classes by Year 10. With this discipline I built in my junior years, I elected to complete the International Baccalaureate at Newington College and was able to land a place at my dream university UNSW studying psychology, a course I absolutely love! I may not have gotten the perfect 99.95 but I am sure that little me would be proud of what I did achieve in 2023. Hi, I'm Zach and I am the founder of Empower Education.
